The dog ate my back door!

I exaggerated. I’m sorry – but the door is of little use any more. The dog has started eating from the bottom – and now can crawl out under what is left of the door.

This dear little pooch, Kramer, a miniature long haired dachshund came to live with us over five years ago, when his owners were moving into an apartment.

We had another dog at the time, same breed, but female. Kramer thought he’d found heaven, but as it turns out, Chloe spurned his attempts at romance. She’d had several litters and in fact, like him, was neutered. Eventually they had a very good platonic relationship. She died last year.

Now he is alone – we are not keen to get another dog, and he is well looked after. In fact he spends most of the time in the house. At night we put him in a small enclosure down stairs, and when we go out during the day, we leave him roaming under the house. It is the laundry door – the one barrier to him escaping that has been “attacked

A year and a half later

since you posted this...I have one question. Has Kramer chewed enough of that door to let wildlife in or have you sealed them out and him in with a steel plate screwed to the door? Maybe you have a new door...
