Muslims Put Christians To Shame, Or Why Do Christians Hate God?

As a Christian, I am becoming more and more aware of how nonchalantly I take my religious beliefs. In fact, Christians as a whole do the same thing that I do. We simply do not take our beliefs seriously. We are being put to shame by Muslims.

When the Koran was being desecrated at prisons, Muslims threw a fit and rioted. Marilyn Manson tears up the Bible at his concerts and no one bats an eye. Cartoons of Mohammed spark riots and anger around the world. Jim Carrey plays God in a movie and everyone talks about how funny the movie was.

I realize that we have free speech in this country, but why do these things not outrage those of us who claim that Jesus Christ is everything to us? Why are we not rioting and demanding that Kanye West apologize for his blasphemous actions on the cover of Rolling Stone?

I am including myself in this rant because I believe that we as Christians are forgetting what exactly it means to be a Christian. I hope to make the changes in my life and I hope that such changes will take place with others as well.

Love, not hate.

Nancy J

Although Christ showed that a certain amount of righteous indignation was ok, (overturning the tables of the money lenders, for instance), His message was was more focused on hating the sin...but loving the sinner. He would never approve of screaming, yelling, name-calling,etc., much less killing and maiming and the hate-filled violence that we are witnessing today in the name of Mohammad.

You Are Not A Christian

You speak of Christian beliefs even though you do not know what it means to be a Christian.

If one were to earnestly attempt to follow the teachings of Christ then one would believe in treating each individual as if they were God. Isn’t that what Christ teaches when he tells that by feeding the poor we feed him and that by putting clothes on the beggars we put clothes on him?

One who follows the teaching of Christ would believe in looking within oneself to remove the faults that one finds there rather than looking into the outside world and condemning others for faults that we all possess. Wasn’t that what Christ was teaching when he told to remove the splinter from our own eye first before passing judgment on others?

You are, in my opinion, not a Christian. In this blog post you glorify people who have resorted to violence, murder, death threats and arson.

And you then claim that such people should serve as role models for Christians?

If you were so concerned about being a good Christian then I would recommend that you get busy feeding the poor rather than worrying about what Kanye West does on the cover of Rolling Stones.

It is people who speak like you who have brought a bad name upon religion.

I'm am glad that God took

I'm am glad that God took time to respond to my blog because only God can know if a person is truly a Christian. You, my friend, have some obviously screwed up beliefs. Jesuse was not teaching that everyone is God by saying that clothing the poor is the same as clothing God. That is pantheism. To teach that everyone is God is a heresy. There is only one God. Clothing the poor is an act of worship that we can do to please the Heavenly Father.

By pointing to Muslim protestors, I was not glorifying their actions. I was simply pointing out that they have a devotion that is lacking in Christians today.

Comparisons

First, the comparisons bother me. Are you envious of the Muslims because of their outrage? You can claim I missed the point, but the fact is, this is nothing but jealousy under the disguise of "compare and contrast". If you want to be outraged, be outraged. The Muslims have nothing to do with it, and they are certainly not shaming Christians. It is not a case of the person who yells the loudest wins.

Second, in response to the cartoon fury, the editors of several international newspapers have said that they are not doing cartoon series that poke fun at Muslims only. They also are doing cartoons for other religions. One even went so far as to suggest a comic with Anne Frank and Hitler in bed. One can only imagine its purpose was to appease Muslims. However some very wise Muslims in the United States said that they do not want to spread hatred. They are not asking that the newspaper incite all its readers, but that they stop inciting everyone. The same group of Muslims is calling for worldwide peace, and you'll notice there really aren't the protests in the states that are happening elsewhere. Calling for peace instead of reacting to someone who has slighted you is wise- EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Third, if you are a Christian, you are not of this world, you simply reside in it. If you don't like the message that Kanye West is sending, or the movie that Jim Carrey is acting in, surprise! You don't have to see it. In fact, I urge you not to, because it would be very hypocritical. Instead, see the uplifting things that share the same message you believe in. Do not follow my advice, and you run the risk of becoming another hatemonger Pat Robertson or ill-informed Jerry Falwell who are so ready to spread hate- until people call them out on their nonsense. And BTW, I really think it's time to give up on Marilyn Manson.

Nuff said.

God Laughs Too!

I am not going to say too much on this subject since I have been actually working on a piece about religion the past two days. However, I feel that maybe you were misunderstood by a few others here! I do not sense that you were wanting to be a radical in the name of Christ or were you?

I have been a minister for 11 years and if there is one thing I can share with Christians and Non Christians is this, lighten up a bit because if there is one thing I do know that is God, Creater, that Higher Power above as all, he or she has a grand sense of humor. I have seen this through out my entire life and God laughs along the side of each of us. I don't feel God is offened or feels mocked.

As for Jesus, he was made in the image of man. We as man kind no matter what part of the world we reside, we laugh and have sense of humors. So I do not feel Jesus is insulted by a comic. I have told many jokes myself about all religons, why? Because I have studied all faiths and I respect them all and if we can't laugh at ourselves this world would be boring.

Marlyin Manson? His tearing up of the bible was just for effect. A show, nothing more than a prop to get a crowd going and to get some publicity. All performers have to have some gimic. Just as Ozzy bit off the heads of bats.

Jesus did not speak of sin, heaven or hell. He spoke of enlightment.

I'm afraid of what kind of

I'm afraid of what kind of minister you are or what Bible you are reading. The Bible that I read has Jesus talking a lot about sin and heaven and hell. You don't feel that God is mocked because I don't think we worship the same God.

Let us not hurt eachother

Let us not hurt eachother with question of religious practices. Christians are also human beings. Who speaks the good done by them. Often we dig the negative? What about the good?

Upset??

Upset about God being denegrated and desecrated? Violence against women, hatefulness, and apathy is against God, too. So let's be tolerant--of none of this. Let's demand we leave a good example for our neighbors and friends, AND enemies, too.

You read a bible that has Jesus talking about Hell?

That's a neat trick. Seriuosly. Care to share a passage where Jesus talks about Hell?

To Maverick

You have obviously never read the New Testament have you. From what I can tell, you are so blinded by your own self-righteousness that if Jesus Himself was to come talk to you, you would deny it.

Don't Question My Ministry, I Question Your Anger!

Someone missed my point by automaticaly judging who my God is and my faith. I will not try to defend my ministry to anyone because I do things my way and nobody has to agree with me. I have better things to do than fight about any of this. Funny though how it was a Christian attacking my faith and my God. Wheres the Christian love and acceptance here?

Cast the first stone buddy!!!!!!!

But if you must know I am a Minister who does not preach of a burning hell, a devil who wants to seduce us with sin, or of a God we should fear, but of a God who loves. I teach spiritual balance, the same lessons Jesus was really teaching. I speak of acceptance of ALL faiths, but mostly that we are all human and we all make mistakes, and we pay for these mistakes "sins" in this life time. God made everything and he made something called "Karmic Laws."

There are many variables in scripture in different bibles. Read the Dead Sea Scrolls. There are many other scrolls written 100's of years before the very first Bible, which was written by the Romans. Jesus did NOT teach of a hell.

He spoke of love of your fellow man. I just see the love here when "Christians" want to attack my faith. Know the History and Science of the Bible as well! Don't yell out to me what your Sunday School teacher told you what you "should" believe.
