Musings from the Washing Machine

I think that companies who make laundry products and detergents must think everyone's daft. They manufacture all sorts of things that nobody needs. What does one need six different detergents to do laundry for? One for coloureds, one for whites, one for delicates, one for black clothes and now I see in my local supermarket one for velveteens!!! The average household needs one everyday detergent for normal laundry and you might want one of the special liquid products for pure woolens, or if you have any real silk. If there is a baby in the house you might want one of the pure soap type products. It's all a big ruse to get us to buy more.

The other thing that peeves me immensely is liquid laundry detergents and the tablet type, I use a powder because I feel that I get value for money that way. I feel that with a liquid you are paying for water and if I wanted to use my powder in a liquid form I can add my own water. The tablet type of detergents are soap powder with water added and formed into tablets, you cannot control properly the exact amount to use, therefore you use more than perhaps you would otherwise another way of getting more sales. With my powder I can measure it out exactly.
