Motorcycle Safety

I read just about everyday about someone getting killed on a motorcycle and the big fuss about it, and it's time to take some responsibility for our safety on the road. Two Thirds of motorcycle crashes occur because someone in a car pulls out in front of a motorcycle. Always wear a helmet while riding for starters, I have seen even off duty policemen riding without a helmet and they should know better. They make protective pants and jackets that are armored. Do things to make yourself more visible, never ride in someone's blindspot burn your headlights on bright during the daytime or get a modulator to make it flash, this also seems to help. Get use to stopping with both brakes, the front brake has more stopping power than the rear but use both, that way you use 100% of your stopping power. Take a rider safety course and get properly licensed. Never ride up the road on one wheel you give the rest of us a bad name, same for those of you with loud pipes. I ride a big Bike and most of the people I ride with do the same, the difference in them and me, about 3 or 4 of us ride bikes with very quiet pipes. Riding a bike takes a lot more skill and patience than driving a car, please be careful out there, Ride on but ride safe.http://goldwingman61-goldwings.blogspot.com

wrecks than there used to be. One reason is there are so many more motorcycles on the road than there ever used to be. And the bottom line is, people don't look for motorcycles like they do cars. We have had a couple of close calls with people just pulling out in front of us. It really pisses me off too. I know pipes are a little annoying to alot of people, but I have to say, that may be what draws attention from a motorist to a bike and my be just what keeps them from pulling out in front of it. So if its loud, so be it- it might save a persons life. Safety is the first and formost thing bikers need to follow. I have seen people be really stupid on bikes. They dont respect the power that they have, and if you dont know what your doing and are acting stupid-something is going to happen. One last thing- alcohol and motorcycles DONT MIX. That has to be the stupidest thing you can do, is drink a couple of beers or drinks and climb on that machine with only two wheels, and take off-how utterly stupid can you get? So yea, safety is the key.
