Mother Of The Year?

You know, there are a lot of people picking on Britney Spears for this and that. One of the comments I keep hearing is that she's supposedly a bad mother. Well, I'm not sure whether that's true or not, but regardless, she can't be as bad as this mother.
As in, a lady was arrested in Maryland for drug and child abuse. When the police came to the house, the mother had a marijuana cigarette in her hand, and there was drug paraphernalia laying around. She got so mad at the police that she picked up her 6 month old and threw it at one of the cops. The baby hit the cop in the chest, and he luckily caught the baby before it hit the ground.
Was Mom upset? Yes,... at the cop. She tried to attack him, not because of the baby mind you, but because she said he didn't have any right being in his house. So much for caring mothers. Oh yeah, her 2 year old was in the room with them at the time; guess he was too heavy to pick up.
I keep saying I'm not overly surprised by bad behavior anymore, but I think I'm kidding myself. Can I really be jaded to this sort of thing if I'm writing about it? Or, is not being surprised different than being initially shocked when I hear of stories like this?
In any case, I think, comparatively, Britney is a saint. Yeah, we're not talking comparisons, are we? If we were, then we'd be talking about the comparison between what Michael Vick did and what those people in West Virginia did; but that's a tale for another time. Oh yeah, I already wrote about it; silly me.

is it me or are things so much
worse than they were 20-25 years ago. It just seems to me the stories get worse and happen every day. Sometimes I hear 3 or 4 horrible stories a day. I have a gut feeling about things happening the way they are happening, but, dont really want to get into that at the point.
Yea, there was a story in our news about a woman who was having alot of domestic problems going on and apparently doused her children in gasoline. I couldn't believe it, but like you, was not surprised by this kind of behavior.
Things might be worse, Ammorton,...
and, in a weird way, it's all tied in with drugs. Not only are they more accessible than ever, but now even an idiot with a little bit of money and an internet connection can make their own, and either consume it themselves or try to sell it. Drugs really do make people stupid; that's why they call it dope!

tests for parents
Maybe we should allow the government to regulate procreation. First a series of tests for drugs and alcohol, then psych evaluations, followed by income assesments. After the child is born there should be follow ups every year (surprise evals!) to test for drugs and checking on possible abuse. These inspections should continue until the child is around 12 yr old. By that age they'd be able to speak out themselves if their parents suddenly go mad.
I know the first thing you'll say, catfish, is that it would intrude on our civil rights. And, furthermore, you might fear (and, probably correctly) that the intrusion would go even further in exclude potential parents - like yourself, for example. Being diabetic isn't a threat to a childs safety, but the government might decide that you might not live long enough to care for said child. Of course, that'd be ridiculous!
I'm just so sick of this! I'm living with someone not caring for her children. I see it on the news and hear about it from neighbors! Maybe we should just form our own justice! The first time the crack pipe comes out, the kids are gone!
Geez! There has to be a way that will keep these kids safe without involving nazi-like conditions!

I like that, Spooky,...
except for the "implication" that the government would then be following people around to see what they were doing ni the bedroom; I'd hate that part.
