Parker and Waichman, LLP now files suit against Bausch & Lomb on behalf of a woman who permanently becomes blind in left eye after using ReNu with MositorLoc. She was diagnosed with Fusarium Keratitis which led to blindness.

The FDA warned about a high rate of Fusarium Keratitis among users of ReNu with the MositorLoc. ReNu is manufactured by Bausch & Lomb. The damage to the left eye occured after she was diagnosed with FK. This suit was filed last week.

In the middle of April, Bausch and Lomb asked all the retailers to remove ReNu with MositorLoc from their shelves and advised consumers to switch to another lens care solution. This happened after the FDA and CDC issed public warning on April 10, 2006 in reference to the fungal infections. The CDC mentioned they had interviewed 30 patients suspected of having this infection. Of those 30 patients, 26 used Bausch ReNu.

In the case of the woman having going blind in her left eye from using the solution, certain medical and surgical treatments were attempted but unsuccessful. As a result, she is permanently blind in her left eye and has to wear an ocular shell.

Parker and Waichman has been retained by many individuals diagnosed with Fusarium keratitis and other fungal infections who now have impaired vision caused by the infection. Fusarium Keratitis is a severe infection of the cornea. It is more prevalent in warm climates. First the doctors attempt topical and antifungal treatments. If the patients don't respond to that, then surgery is performed including cornea transplant.
