Mobile operators set sights on last frontier

Soon, we will able be contactable via mobile networks that span across the globe. Currently, mobile phone network coverage cant cover remote parts of the globe or during in flight travels. This is all set to change, with a new generation of mobile networks which is being built out of boxes no bigger than a microwave oven. These boxes extend the reach of traditional networks of base stations, satellites and masts to places not worth the attention of big operators.

During this week's 3GSM wireless trade show in Barcelona, a crop of start-up and more established firms showed off technology that can be packed up and carried off to just about anywhere to connect hundreds of people at a time. There are talks about worlds smallest GSM network box, making in flight calls and even phone calls in space.

Great news for everyone, now we can have 100% coverage with the only limiting factor being our mobile phones battery. Next would ISP have a 100% wireless network coverage spanning the globe...I wonder
