Mini Laptops

A new trend of miniaturisation has begun. With people becoming more mobile, cites more crowded and homes smaller, miniature is the way to go. following the miniaturisation trend India first introduced a miniature car ($25,000 and 600cc) which was soon followed by the launch of a miniature laptop by HCL.
The laptop is a neat little device which provides immense functionality and mobility to its user. It is the ultimate go device. It is available in X, Y and V series which differ slightly on features but there is a large difference in prices. The laptop is named Mileap.
The X-series is priced at Rs. 13,990 and it is the size of a organiser diary. It is available in Black and Pink leather covers for males and females respectively. it has wi-fi, a built in mic, SD card slot, 2 USB slots and built in speakers. What it does not have is a proper hard drive and even the flash memory is only 2 GB. It runs on a basic 900 MHZ celeron processor. The operating system is LINUX (edbuntu) which is good for web use, basic multimedia and documents.
The V-series costs a lot more at Rs. 33,990 but its features justify the cost. It is a Tablet PC with a touch sensitive swivel screen. It comes preloaded with windows Vista Home Premium operating system, has a 80 GB HDD and !GB RAM. Based on an intel 110 processor it has wi-fi, bluetooth, SD card slot, 2 USB slots, 1.3m webcam. The processor in both the laptops is sluggish and due to the small factor a number of things had to be miniaturised with the touchpad being 1 inch wide. However the X-series comes with dedicated pointer options on the left side of the screen, mouse buttons on the right and dedicated launch buttons for applications like web cam and internet explorer.
The Y-series does not have a preinstalled windows/Linux operating system and comes installed with free dos. It is priced at Rs. 29,990.
Overall the laptops make a good package.
