Mets and Red Sox

Baseball | Boston Red Sox | New York Mets

I hate baseball! Okay, that's not true, but man, I'm really not in the best of moods this last week of the regular season.

How the heck did the Mets lose a 7 game lead with only 17 games remaining? How is it that the Red Sox can't seem to get that big win to finally keep the hated Yankees from winning, dare I say, their 13th straight division pennant, when at one point this year they had a 14 game lead?

This is the thing in sports, that one never really knows what's going to happen. Sure, if the Yankees ended up winning, most people would just say that their money helped them gain the advantage in the end, but man, I really don't want to deal with listening to all those Yankee fans in town gloating over this one, even if I'd probably deserve it for that sweep the Sox put on them back in, oh man, was it really way back in 2004? As for the Mets, in my area they're considered the pretend team of the state, yet I was feeling pretty smug earlier in the season calling out Yankee fans for their teams bad play with all that money while the Mets, who really aren't all that cheap a team, were playing some of the best baseball in the league.

At least the Red Sox are already in the playoffs, but the Mets,... man, this just can't be happening. Course, it's a team without any real leadership except for one of their pitchers, Tom Glavine, and pitchers really don't get teammates riled up, which is why they're never made team captains (okay, rarely).

Well, at least I know I'll have one team to root for in the playoffs; that'll be my only reason to watch. Man, I hate those Yankees!

Hey Catfish-at least it's not the Royals

I dont even follow baseball anymore because this team of ours just outright sucks. I remember following it back in 1985 when we were in the playoffs, then the world series and then we won. It has never been the same since, so I quit following. And leadership is a key thing in keeping a team alive.

My grandmother still asks, Ammorton,...

about the Royals because of all the years she lived there. I wish they were at least somewhat decent so I could give her good news. Baseball is missing the boat by not adopting some kind of revenue sharing plan and coming up with a way to cap salaries so everyone has some kind of chance if the management knows what's going on. Yeah, I know the big boys think the game will make it if only the top money teams make it every year (yeah, my Red Sox are one of those), but the rest of the country doesn't always care about the Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers, who seem to have forgotten what baseball is all about anyway. Truthfully, it seems the National League is more interesting because at least there are some new names here and there.

Reviews of Everything, reviews and opinions of, well, almost anything!
