The annual Leonid Meteor Shower will occur this weekend. It's sure to be an amazing show as at it's expected to show around 150 shooting stars an hour at it's peak.

Seeing this in the news this morning reminded me of a time a few years ago. Me and this guy I was dating and some of our friends went camping. We took his boat out to an island on the bay and that's where we set up camp.

The guys displayed their manliness in chopping down a viney tree that really did not want to be chopped down. My guy took the swing that finally severed it from it's base. He was so excitied he started running towards me, threw me over his shoulder, like "I am man" lol.

I loved that about him, his sheer masculinity, he felt powerful and I felt safe. Anyway, the night went on, we had a romantic fire. I can't remember what we ate and that's probobly for the best.

Someone noticed a shooting star, and then another and another. We were out in the middle of the water, any mainland was so far away that we could barely see it in daylight, but certainly could not see it in the night. Imagine being on a very small island, no mainland in sight, the only light we had was from our fire, the cloud covered moon and the stars. Now imagine stars start falling out of the sky, by the dozens. It was beautiful.

We had tents and one by one every started to head off to theirs to sleep. My guy and I were left alone, sharing his sleeping bag watching the stars. At some point we both fell asleep, but I was woken by the sheer bitter cold of the morning. I opened my eyes to see the sun rising over the water, it seemed as if I swam out, I'd be able to touch it. It looked and felt so close.

The climbing sun turned everything it touched into a vibrant red. (Red sky at night sailor's delight, red sky in morning sailors take warning) Which turned into orange and gold around the edges of the sky. It's hard to describe what it was like. Aside from my daughter it was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen.

I'd woken my guy up to watch the sun rise with me, we enjoyed by ourselves. There's yet to be a more romantic moment in my life.

The other starting getting up, the hustle and bustle began with making breakfast- the most god awful coffe I've ever had- and cleaning, playing and then soon leaving. It was such an amazing night.
