"Mental Retardation" is actually a medical term!

I learned at my first day of DD Specialty Training is that our goal is to provide a "Better quality of life" for our residents. "People are people are people are people." and "Treat adults like adults." (Even if they don't act like adults!) Did you know that before Hitler used the gas chamber to kill off jews, he used it to kill the people in the mental illness asylums? He ordered 200,000 of them killed! Also the medical term in the 1800's for mental retardation was actually MORON and IMBICILE. Sadly even today we still live in a cruel world.

The reason I'm taking these classes is I'm going to start working at a Adult Family Home with DD (Developmental Disabilities) Residents. I'm loving this class! Our teacher is a great honest guy. Very good teacher. Joe Hutchings. He's very good at problem-solving for AFHs and Boarding Homes. I recommend everyone to take these classes. Its free and very refreshing. Hopfully your teacher won't be a booky and not so boring.
