He attempted to throw his nose away, but was caught by a police man. Then he droped it into the river. On the other side of the city, a well educated assessor, Kovayov, lost his nose. The nose was very important to him, because without it he might not be able to persuade his girl friend to stay with him or even get married with him.

While searching everywhere, he happened to find his nose dressed as a higher ranking official. And he followd it to a church. He approached his facial part, but the nose did not pay attention to him. Kovayov placed an advertisement stating that he would pay a reward for the return of his nose.

Soon, the policeman who had talked to Ivan before, appeared at Kovayov's door telling him that the nose was found. He handed the nose over to the assessor. Kovayov tried to put the nose back on his face again and again, but did not succed. Then he called a doctor to fix the problem, however the doctor was not able to put the nose back. He told him that the nose did not belong to him.

This is an abstract of a story named The Nose. It is written by a writer called Nikolai Gogol. From my point of view, the story implies people view things they already possessed differently. The nose, to be a part of the face is just like our kins belong to the family. Some of us care much about everyone of them. But for some people they might be someone should be get rid of.
