During the mid 80s when I started to watch television, the only channel we had was Channel 33. I was in Dubai during this time as my father was working there. He still continues to do but I have move out of the country. Today I receive more than 100 channels with numerous series.

In those days the only English Channel available was Channel 33. I don’t exactly know whether this channel still exists today. The programs in this channel used to start at around 1600hrs. After Koran reading, there used to be cartoons like The Centurions, Hulk, Smurfs etc. I and my sister used to eagerly wait for these cartoons. This was followed by ‘Small Wonder’ on certain days. I rarely used to get a chance to see ‘Small Wonder’ and the cartoons as the timing of it used to clash with my school hours. But I still remember Vicky the robot and the cute family in which she lived.

The first television series I watched was ‘A Team.’ In this series four men dealt with drug peddlers, mafia and other antisocial elements. It was thrilling then and the four men made an excellent team. This used to be aired mostly after my school hours. In fact as soon as I return from school, the first thing I used to get to see was ‘A Team’ on certain days. I used to curse the bus driver, if ever he made it late during the days in which A Team was aired.

Today, the choices of television series and channels are many, but I rarely get time to see any of them. But even today a small smile appears on my face when I remember those days when there was only one channel and how I used to eagerly wait for my favorites series.
