MEDITATIONS

How does meditation help us?

-- A tool, like mathematical/memory exercises.
-- Philosophic, religious uses have been blown up.

==Meditation should have nothing to do with religion. A cat before pouncing on its target will be closely watching it, often with half closed eyes. We may think, it is meditating. At the opportune moment it leaps on its prey.

What is meditation?

--Contemplation about something serious.

Can we get SAMADHI (pronounced: samaadhi) by meditation?

-- Without announcing that we are meditating, we meditate everyday.

== When a lover thinks about his beloved, he is meditating.

== When a person meditates about "X", he forgets "A to W", "Y to Z". He does not respond to external stimulii.

== People using drugs also fail to respond to stimulii, when the drugging is excessive.

What are the benefits of samadhi?

-- Preachers show umpteen benefits.

== temporarily we may forget our pains.
== back after revival, our problems, the stress haunt us, unless we solve them really.

What is Ashanti?

A Sanskrit word meaning 'Lack of Peace' or Unrest. A person may have a tumultous mind for various reasons.

We may lose our peace when we compare ourselves with others. If we are better than them, we may feel happy. Else, gyrations will start.

We may feel ashanti (pronounced 'ashaamti' or as`aamti. Aspirating is not correct, but it is now current) when our ambitions, desires, progammes get disrupted.

Does meditation help us to overcome Ashanti?

Meditation helps us to concentrate on our target. If we concentrate on something which is away from the object which is causing us pain, we get temporary relief. Just like drugs, but without expense and impairment of health.

Better way to drive Ashanti away is to solve the problem by correct decision making. We can adopt the techniques suggested in 'How To Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie'.

Sometimes, we may not have control on the environment and despite the best decision making and implementation, the problem may persist. Then meditation provides us relief.
