Media Changes for the Internet

The net has changed so much. I like some of the new changes. The net is now including web tools that make it easier for diabled people to view the web.

My husband has one hand. He uses dragon speak to help him type. CNN posted an article on their website 'Web sites are locking out the disabled.'

A blind person can read the brail newspaper. A deaf person can listen to TV thanks to the captioning service.

The web shopping sites should open the world up for the disabled and shut ins. W3C is working to make web easier for disabled people.

The National Federation of the Blind filed against America Online, at because AOL's software does not work with screen readers, so it violates the ADA.

Under Title III of the act, all "public accommodations" must provide reasonable access to persons with disabilities. In 1996, the Department of Justice ruled that Web sites are public accommodations and must offer access to the disabled.
