The Paul McCartney/Heather Mills divorce leaves me curious on a number
of points.
Miss Mills blames the press for the dissolution of the marriage.
And what exactly was she expecting? She knew how famous Sir Paul
was before she met, even claiming to have been a fan of Wings as a
child. Didn't she read or watch TV growing up? If so, how could
she have NOT known that every move she made both as Mr. McCartney's
girlfriend and as his wife would be fodder for the tabloids.
Or is it the bad publicity that has her running for cover? She
should have expected that too. If you marry one of the country's
richest, most eligible bachelors, the first thing to come to everyone's
mind is: golddigger. Whether there's any truth to this or not, these
accusations should be expected. And let's not forget the huge age
difference. There's enough fodder on these two points to feed the
press for years.
Finally, what kind of mother was she? She has the father of
her child demanding full custody, where most couples agree on joint
custody. What has she done to make Sir Paul reluctant to share their
daughter with her? And which of the couple's views are so different
that neither of them can agree on how their daughter should be raised?
But if she does accept the settlement, granting her a quickie
divorce in exchange for giving up her baby, she will once again hear
claims that she is a golddigger. What mother in her right mind would
willingly up give their child for any amount of money?
No matter what, let's remember who's really paying for this divorce.
When all is said and done, it's little Beatrice Millie, growing up
in a broken home and under the harsh glare of the spotlight, that
will be paying for the couple's mistakes for years to come.
