Marketing Your Web Site Through Podcasting

I have 4 podcasts of my own and they all compliment my web site. Podcasting is easy and is great marketing tool to compete with radio and television.
You can simply plug in a microphone, download Audacity to record your podcast, and upload the finished MP3 file to your web hosting server. There are about 5 good FREE podcast hosting services as well like Switchpod.
One of the newest ways to market your podcast is to network with other podcasters whose podcasts are similar to yours and there is no better way to do this then to join a podcast network.
Podcast networks, like radio and television networks are simply a network of podcasts. Some podcasts are basically generic like PodcasterWhosWho.com, who dubs itself as the Who's Who of Podcasting, which I believe has banked on the Who's Who niche that prevails in so many fields.
Be careful with some podcast directories as they simply list your podcast with absolutely no care for the podcast listed. On podcast directories, your podcast is unattached to every other podcast listed.
PodcasterWhosWho.com really seems to care about its members and helps them get traffic to their web site by creating live chat events where podcasters can grab their microphone and introduce their podcasts. It also has offers a free podcast network creation tool where podcasters with similar subject matter can band together.
Other podcast networks may be geographic like the Long Island Podcast Network, which markets over 30 podcasts in the Long Island area (which is that peninsula that juts out to the east of New York City).
Networking your podcast is indeed a great marketing tool and an excellent way to get more listeners and subscribers. I have 4 of my own podcasts and I have no problems contacting podcasters who's podcasts are similar to mine and asking them to mention my podcast on their shows. I, of course, in exchange, mention their shows. We share each other's traffic which implements the most fundamental marketing concept, target marketing. This works out very well.
If you, for example, see web design services, why not start a podcast for web designers. Ask other web designers to link to your podcast and see if you can even get traffic to your web site from web design forums. That is a great way to market your podcast and get subscribers and it does work well.
Some of the other articles which I have read on Helium talk about getting onto podcast directories, but the real marketing opportunity is getting links to your podcast or blog from non-podcast directories as well. As I said, above, use messageboards, group sites, social networks with a common theme.
Also, another good marketing method for podcasts is to go to the podcasting conventions such as Podcamp. I led a session at both Podcamp New York City and Podcamp Boston and was asked to speak at Podcamp Toronto. Podcamps are another good networking tool for podcasters and they can get really good information in over 100 sessions on marketing your podcast to selecting podcast equipment to content.
I hope this article has helped give you more ideas on podcast marketing.
In short, try the podcast networks and podcamps.
