I LOOOOOVE George Carlin! The folks that don't believe in Global Warming need to seriously get a grip. It does exist and it's not getting any better with time, only worse. The extinction of all the animals is just the tip of the few icebergs left!
But I am also talking about the sheer brutality that is so bloody rampant. A couple of blogs have been written by 2Cat and Catfish that point out just how very insane it is! Like 2Cats blog about that guy feeding his dog kittens...WTFFFFF! You know? How does someone grow up to be that completely void of any kind of sympathy? How does one grow up to be so full of self loathing? It really does blow my mind.

I just wish that Americans would wake up and get as pissed off as you are....We are NOT a nation of sniveling bastards...that's just the Republicans. We are one of the greatest nations on what's left of the planet, we just need to remember a few things like The Constitution, The truth, The Buck Stops Here not at Exxon, and last but not least...WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???? You hit on an issue that I discussed with someone several years ago. It was long before Bush was in office, I was more than happy with the way the government was going, and yet, something felt wrong. I told them that in 50 years, America wouldn't even resemble the same country. They thought I meant things like shiny new technology, and interesting inventions. But what I meant was much more at the heart of the nation. America is dying. For the first time in, ummm, probably EVER, the Canadian dollar is on par with the American dollar. Our economy is shit, and yet nobody cares. We are all standing around looking at each other and saying, "But I still make the same amount of money. I can still buy a new big screen tv. And I know there's a lot of talk about the housing market being bad, but I've still got my house, and all the stuff in it. So, what do you mean the economy is bad?" People look around and they complain about the war, but it's not like it's ACTUALLY affecting us. Over 3100 soldiers killed, just so I could put a stupid f*cking sticker on my stupid f*cking SUV to the store where I'll buy more stupid f*cking toys that are painted with lead paint because it's shiny (and what is America if it isn't all about the shiny). I cannot think of more wasteful use of resources or lives. No, America is dead. There just hasn't been an autopsy yet. This soulless excuse of a country is my legacy for my kids. I can spend the rest of my life on my knees, and there won't be absolution for this.

But who cares? One more person needs to die in Iraq because my gas tank needs filling. We will deserve it when mother nature decides to shut down the party. But will we notice???

I am so bloody sick of hearing the "political blabbing" I will NOT be voting in 08 for the first time in well over 20 years, because I honestly don't think any of the blabbermouths that are running mean anything at all! I mean, you are the one that keeps bringing up the race issues and the inhumanity of that. You apparently do agree that the glaciers are melting, which means you must recognize the consequences of that on animals and humans. And you point out how "we here in America" are subjected to governmental whims that are not always beneficial - a government that "we here in America" vote into office. So, if you wouldn't call it "man's inhumanity to man" or to "all," what would you call it? Do you subscribe to the belief that there is a secret society (or deity) visiting all these ills on mankind for nefarious reasons of their own?

with the knowledge that there are people who are on both sides of all issues. To blame "man" across the board says no one cares at all, in my mind, and that's not true in the least. For instance, today Bush vetoed a bill that would have expanded healthcare for children. I could blame man for its defeat, but the truth is that a whole bunch of "mans" and "womans" voted to put the bill together in the first place. As it pertains to race, same thing; there are always people willing to fight the good fight, on all sides, so to condemn man in full, well, I just can't do it.

Well I DO say that ALL mankind can kiss my arse after all:) I really don't care too much about adults anymore...we all suck ass. Hypocrisy and guilt and ugh, I really could go on and on...the fact of the matter is there are maybe one or two people that genuinely give a shit, but they are a dollar short and a war shy of their goal to fix anything. The thought that Mount Kiliminjaro (SP?) will no longer have snow on them in 15 years is totally messing with my mind. I mean my grandkids will never know the beauty? All so the very few can get their grandkids a free ride in the future...sickens me,it really does. OIL! I think we should start a campaign and call it the "Anti-Oil" campaign...I would sooner see snow and the beauty that is left then vote ever again for either party as they are nothing more then a bunch of lying theives and whores waiting for the next rape...all for the OIL! And as far as this topic goes there is NO COLOR of skin involved, unless it's GREY, due to pollution.

Then again, I think there are some people who do fight the good fight, and speak out when something bad is going on. What we don't see anymore is that one person who's the unifying person that everyone can get behind, and that may be because these days we just know way too much about everyone. As a for instance, back in the 80's, I'd have gone to the end of the earth to follow Jesse Jackson, who was charismatic and speaking my language. By now, there's hypocrisy he's been involved in that's hurt my feelings, and now I don't trust myself to follow anyone but myself.

And that's a shame.

like I said about the guy being tasered...(At John Kerry's speech) no one was outraged and those that were did nothing but watch as it happened in front of them. Back in the day when people where being beat up for being either a "dirty hippie" or a "dirty black hippie" we fought it! We had people that got angry enough to do something about it...Nowadays we have "HOMELAND FUCKING INSECURITY" and that's the excuse for basically taking the Constitution and wiping our collective American asses with it. WHY AM I THE ONLY PERSON ANGRY ABOUT THIS??? AM I REALLY ALONE HERE?? I need to quit screaming. UGH!

because, for most of the rest of us, we didn't really hear about the story. If I hadn't had one of my friends, who was down in Florida taking care of her mother, tell me about it, I'd have never known a single thing about it; now that's shocking. Also, when I finally started looking it up, it almost seemed like they were saying this guy's kind of known in his area as someone who pulls pranks in order to have something to put on his website, and many of the students there, at least from what I was reading, thought it was a prank he was pulling once again. That's one of those things were reputation precedes you, even if something serious ends up happening. Remember Andy Kaufmann? I mean, back then, did we really believe he had cancer, based on everything else he'd done?

But I heard they suspended the two police officers who did this to him, and I also heard that he wasn't even thinking about suing them. Since I can't find any new news on this, what's going on now with this story?

But like you I only caught the very end of the whole deal. What got me though is the lack of help this kid got at the time...be he an ass or not he was using his RIGHT to free speech and got slammed for it. Can you imagine for one minute speaking your mind and having a couple of bullies slam you for it? I really can't imagine that and it worries me because I too have a BIG MOUTH!!

back in the days before we had tasers and the like, we both probably knew that one guy who would do anything to be seen, the essential jerk. And, if one saw the essential jerk getting in trouble for doing something stupid, most of us would say "he's getting what he deserves." In this case, I get the feeling that, for the most part, people knew who this guy was, and, based on the clip I saw, he was actually acting more like a jerk at the time, breaking the rules that had been set for everyone else, and then he started the screaming before he was tasered. In essence, it seemed like he was egging people on, kind of like what I hear happens in those Jackass movies. That's why I think this incident is kind of telling; maybe the cops shouldn't have tasered him, but it made me think others around him knew about him and thought he deserved it; I do remember reading where a few people actually said that when interviewed.

Odd story, though.

believe it or not I have actually come to the defense of a few jackasses myself...I don't like bullies, and I was bullied a whole bunch when I was a kid...and even though I KNEW that sticking up for the under dog could get my ass beat...I would still say something. I have even had the very same under dog turn on me a few times (because he was protecting himself) and yet I am pationate when it comes to stuff like this...to attack the person that was attacked is a very old ploy used to blame the victim, as in rape etc. It's still wrong any way you cut it.

at least it hasn't been the norm for me. I really do believe that people need to be accountable, and if I see them doing something that ends up getting them something they deserve, in my opinion, then I'm not saying word one. I say not the norm because I do remember the one or two times I got in the middle of something to protect someone, then, because I felt forced to get in the middle of it, ended up solving the entire issue so that both parties not only heard from me, but talked it over afterwards. I won't let someone get totally dominated, as in protecting someone from a bully even if they were overly stupid, but I will let them know they deserved it if I did have to step in.

Course, you and I would have to handle it differently. At your size, from what you said, you could probably get away with fussing at someone without having to worry about taking a shot at you; for me,... well, I'm glad I'm older so I don't have to worry about that sort of thing anymore, since, in these days, one never knows who's packing.

I am all of 130 lbs. when wet and I am 5'7 and 1/2. But when someone is physically bigger and meaner and they are basically pushing someone smaller around I turn into a veritable GIANT...I once ran down this big kid who walked up to this really little kid and punched him in the face because he could...I got so pissed off that I ran his ass down and dragged him back to apologize...now the kid that was the bully was at least 100 lbs bigger and a good foot taller, also about 20 years younger and that much more healthy...but a pissed off Sassy is not someone who backs down when it's shoved in my face like that. I am very surprised that I am still alive and somewhat attractive despite the fights I have been in...and God forbid I see a man hit a woman...That's when Sassys loses her mind and see's nothing but RED. LOL. So in a sense I guess that's my way of forcing people to be accountable Catfish.

is that, in today's world, one really needs to take that extra beat before reacting to a situation, unless they're fairly confident their life isn't in danger. I picked that lesson up one night when I was with a friend of mine who had this young lady come up to him to dance. They were really into it, and my friend was feeling pretty good about it all. That is, until the "man" showed up and grabbed her, dragging the young lady off the floor. I thought about intervening, then my friend and I both saw the gun at the same time, and then, when he walked over to two other men, both also wearing black suits,... well, you know. That was one time when discretion really did probably save our lives, as we beat feet quickly. No, there are just some situations I'm not ready to die for; it may seem like cowardice, but I saw it as self preservation.

And to be perfectly honest with you, I have come very close to death myself when I was raped...now that was the one time I too decided that my life was worth the pain and degradation...when confronted with actual death no one would call anyone a loser per se, if they walk away alive. I have a quick temper but I also can and do maintain a level head when it comes at me fast. I am not pro violence in any way...but I am also not the kind of person that backs down quickly in an argument, especially with a bully.

as long as we can fight the good fight, and pick when to back down, we'll all be good. However, I wish I'd known you when you were raped; I'd have hunted down the guy and killed him, no questions asked. At least I'd have tried.

There is more optimism on your part...because you like to have faith in Mankind...well maybe I am jaded, but I don't trust ANYONE. When someone does something out of character I am never surprised, maybe saddened, but not surprised. I expect the worst in people that way I wont be disappointed when they "do their thaaang" I have had one hellacious week here myself and it just keeps telling me one thing I can count on...mankind sucks the big one. If and when I meet the "big" guy upstairs I will ask him...HUH? PORQUE?? Ya know.

I just have hopes that, in the end, man will come together for the betterment of everyone. Maybe it's because I love Star Trek, and I love the concept that they put together, for the most part, where many different types of culture have come together for the common good. Sure, there are a few folks who are going to be renegade, but my hope is that it always stays on the outer fringes and not become the norm.

And I'm like you in the one regard; I'm not really surprised anymore, but I an saddened and disappointed.

I am not saying it's healthy...but it's unhealthy more so because of all the crap that is added to it by MANKIND! Being smart is great, but knowing what to do with the smarts is another story altogether. Some of the most evil people on this planet are big time smart...yet they have a twisted way of using there abilities. Some people are too smart for their own good too. I have a real life and a real job...I was unaware of all this CRAP until I did read it all and even left a comment telling EVERYONE to chill the fuck out. When all is said and done the person who will indeed be missed is 2Cat...and the ONLY thing I will agree with you on is that he is NO rascist...but you are wrong when you attack Catfish and say that he sees life as one big attack on his race. Catfish and I go way back and I have had many issues with him and I can agree to disagree with him, usually more often then not...but as I have said before, he is no fool, and you demean him because you "think" he is one way when in reality he is not. Get to know someone before you treat them like dirt...no?
