This is what the new super-budget Malaysian hotel stayOrange is offering in a promotion to attract the backpacker crowd.

For a bunk bed space in a 8 to 10 sq foot room, travellers who book their accomodation online will pay only RM0.80 (35 cents).

Internet Wi-fi, water heater, aircon and the use of a locker are also thrown in.

Prices go up to RM8.90 for a single ensuite room and RM9.90 for a double ensuite room.

The only catch? You have to book at least six months in advance to get that price.

Prices range from RM33.70 to RM68.70 outside the promotional period.

The launch of stayOrange - whose first hotel is at Petaling Street in Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown - follows Air Asia's foray into the hotel industry with its no-frills TuneHotels three months ago.

The hotels are targeted at travellers looking for basic comfort and cheap prices.

stayOrange's launch price of RM0.80 is RM0.19 lower than TuneHotels' earlier offer of RM0.99 beds, reported Guang Ming Daily.

But as at TuneHotels, you must pay extra for the little frills like soap (RM1), shampoo (RM1.50) and tissue paper (RM0.50) at stayOrange. You may also rent DVD players for a daily fee of RM5.

stayOrange's four-storey hotel was converted from a shophouse, and has 40 rooms. Its design is reportedly inspired by Japanese cube hotels.

stayOrange's spokesman, Mr Qiu Ting Shan, told Guang Ming Daily that the hotel has seen at least 40 customers in two weeks.

stayOrange is managed by international hotel chain Carlton Holiday Group.
