So are you loving this whole blogging thing but a little frustrated at the money issue? Think of this as a training ground for your future freelance career.
All of the blogs that we write have the potential to become full fledged freelance articles. There are many web sites that specialize in the very field that you love to write in. There are people out there that want to buy your work. You just have to find it.
Here are a couple places to find markets/buyers:
Craigslist
Craigslist has everything including writing markets. One option is to check out your city and then go down to gigs - writing. You may not find a lot there depending on your city but if there isn't much, check out some of the larger cities. The have writing requests that include global/online requests.
This is also a great place for referrals!
Freelance Writing
This site has many many options for writing. They seperate the markets into High Paying, Low to Medium Paying, and Non-paying. The biggest problem I've found in this site is that to get to the high paying buyers you have to be semi-professional and very knowledgable in a field. The low paying buyers can be very low but some are decent. The only other problem I've come across is that sometimes you don't get any reply at all. That's not very professional in my opinion but ... what are you going to do. Try to remember who it was and don't submit to them again.
And just a little advice - never submit your article in full without agreement of payment and some kind of contract. And that applies to any site you are using.
There are also a couple places online that I am checking out where you can post articles for sale. The site gets a portion of the cost or will pay you a fee. The one I joined to day is Constant Content
Apparently I wasn't very clear on what exactly this site is. Ok, you've come up with a cool idea for an article, you've done a little reasearch maybe, and compose a well thought out piece on whatever your topic of interest is. Now, what do you do with it? First you become an author on Constant Content. Then you post your article. You set your own price. Editors, owners of websites and such come to Constant Content looking for material. They buy the material. Constant Content keeps 35% of the fee and you get the rest. Then you post more articles and get paid more. I hope that was a better description. I'm not sure how great this will be yet but I'll be sure to let you all know.
These are just a few places and I'll be sure to let you all know about more as I come across them. If you have some to share please do!!!
