Magazines for People Who Like Training Dogs

For those of you who are interested in dog training, I'd like to recommend a few magazines. For agility trainers, there is nothing better than Clean Run magazine (Clean Run). Available in full color digital or glossy paper versions, Clean Run is the standard to which all other agility magazines should strive to reach. Each month's issue has tons of training exercises and practical information for instructors and exhibitors.

For obedience training (and a bit of everything else), check out Front & Finish (Front & Finish, the Dog Trainer's News), a newspaper-style magazine that was conceived before I was! Many well-respected trainers volunteer their time to "give back" to dog sports by writing for F&F. Most of the magazine is dedicated to the sport of obedience, but there are a few columns about agility, tracking, musical freestyle, and other sports.

A new (to me), well-rounded multiple dog sport magazine is called, appropriately, Dog Sport (Dog Sport Magazine)). This magazine is based in Canada but addresses agility, rally, obedience, flyball, tracking, and more in ways that are appropriate no matter where you live. I've only seen one sample issue but it really, really impressed me.

If you're interested in dog training, check out these publications. And, as a disclaimer, please note that I write regularly for the first two magazines and am a new writer for the third. I don't get any kickback for sales, though!
