Lust temptation

Designers bring sexy back in a big way for Fall 2007

In a new poll released on 8th Feb, 61% of women said they'd give up sex for a year if it meant they could shop instead.

No wonder.

Designers sent out styles so sexy, so body-hugging, curve - happy and thigh - baring - with updated disco, yes disco, touches -there's a million reasons to paw through the racks this fall.

Whether you choose boffing or buying, ultimately, is none of our business.

But we can make a suggestion. Michael Kors doesn't just create clothes to crave. He creates a lifestyle worth lusting after. You want that hair, that tan, that watch, that grin (which, naturally, comes when you've got all of the previous things).

Kors' lucky are gearing up for a Fall 2007 disco. Not the streaked-eyeliner-at-4 a.m. kind of dance party, but for a much more refined reveler.

A short dress made of coffee-colored mink? Yes, please. Orange tight knit skirts? Pile it on. And throw in an electric-blue royal fox coat, while you're at it. After the show, Kors' mother walked through the crowd.
"Gorgeous, right? Gorgeous?" she asked, beaming.
Yes, mom, gorgeous.

Nightclub mavens in the '70s met girl-about-town falppers at Catherine Malandrino, where models with pixie cuts and velvet caps came out in jewel-coloured tunics, fitted jersey minidresses that blouse and hug the bum and more Swarovski crystals than you can shake a tailfeather at. Speaking of feathers, there were those, too, in the form of an ostrich jacket, skirt and sweater.

It was hippie-chic at Anna Sui, who paired wooly tights and turtlenecks with heavy cotton shifts and shirtdresses. Her wide wale corduroy ski jumpsuit and black nylon anoraks will more likely hit 76th St. than the slopes.

proenza Schouler, the design duo whose line at Target right now is causing a stir, crafted a collection that's about artful embellishment, the kind that highlights the shape of a woman's body in a subtly sexy way. It's a strip of fabric that files off a dress and wraps around one arm, or big beads that draw attention to a deep V on a taffeta frock. It is dark, dainty and perfect for their devoted downtown flock.

Ports 1961 used colour sparingly for their mostly drab collection that included puffy coats, with splashes of jewel hues. Vivienne Tam splashed colour in the form of a skelton print stretch cheongsam, the perfect mix of punk and pretty.

It'll look great crumpled at the foor of your bed. Because Fall 2007's women can have the shopping and the sex, too.
