Losing It the Master Cleanse Way
It seems that most everyone's New Year's resolution is to lose some weight. Is it mine? Well, of course it is. I just had a kid 4 months ago and gained 60 lbs with this 2nd pregnancy. So, I have about 45 more lbs to go. How do I plan on doing this?
After seeing Beyonce on Oprah a few weeks back, I have been inspired. Apparently she participated in the Master Cleanse Diet and lost 20 lbs. Basically it is a fast and she did it for 14 days.
Since I plan on running a marathon in May, I need to lose some weight and the Master Cleanse seems to be the way to go.
Has anyone else here tried this diet and if so, did it work for you?
For those who aren't familiar with this diet, here is some information:
If Beyonce can do it, I can do it.
The Master Cleanser detox diet was created by Stanley Burroughs in 1941. The Master Cleanser also goes by the name "Master Cleanse" and "Lemonade Diet".
The Master Cleanser involves drinking a mixture of fresh lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and grade B maple syrup. Some people choose to take a laxative while on the Master Cleanser, but no solid food is eaten while on the cleanse. The typical amount of time spent on the Master Cleanser is ten days, although it is not uncommon for people to stay on the cleanse for longer periods of time.
To make the Master Cleanser, take 10 oz of water, add 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon or lime juice and a pinch of ground cayenne pepper.
The Master Cleanser is said to eliminate waste that has built up in our body. Supporters of the Master Cleanser have credited it with helping them lose weight, increase energy, and even cure chronic diseases. Those who oppose the Master Cleanser suggest that it is too restrictive and unhealthy. This is not unwarranted. The Master Cleanser when followed contains far less than the recommended amount of daily calories to sustain a healthy person. It also lacks protein, which is vital to many bodily functions.

Sound like fun? Well, once I start I am going to log a personal journal on this experience. I just need to get myself psyched up for this detoxification process.
Wish me luck.
