Liverpool Capital of Culture Tour - Superlambanana

A feature I've been looking forward to sharing with you for many weeks has been this, the Superlambanana
The problem has been, nobody I asked seemed to know where he was
So, early this morning, I set out a hunt for one of my favourite Liverpool monuments, and after much scouring, eventually came across him in the north of the city
The Superlambanana frequently moves his home, and is rarely in the same part of the city for more than a few months so, with that in mind, I won't even bother telling you where to find him if you're visiting the city, as this can change overnight, so you will have to carry out your own hunt (or ask a friendly taxi driver)
Anyway, as many regular readers will know, I have already posted many articles and pictures of monuments and memorials from the city of Liverpool, however, this monument I felt deserved an article all of it's own
It was created by Japanese artist Tar Chiezo and first appeared on the streets of Liverpool back in 1998, and it's a little bit of a joke statue really, as Chiezo is poking fun at the possible outcomes of genetic engineering, and what could happen if we were to get too carried away with it all – we may just see real life Superlambananas in our fields
I think it also reflects the fun nature of the people of Liverpool too
He has appeared in many striking colours including purple and pink, who knows what colour he'll be next or where he'll appear!
During your visit you may also like to see:
The Three Graces
Liverpool Duck Tours
Liverpool City Centre
Mersey Ferries
The Anglican Cathedral
If you're planning a visit - can’t wait to see you la!
