As the famous Liverpool song 'In My Liverpool Home' says:
β€œWe speak in an accent exceedingly rareβ€?
The accent of those native of Liverpool is known as Scouse, and natives of Liverpool known as Scousers
But it isn't just the accent that's 'exceedingly rare'. The whole language of Scouse can take a little deciphering
So here's a small selection of words and phrases you may hear during your visit, and a translation in to the Queen's English:

Alehouse - Public House. A venue where you can purchase alcoholic beverages and often food
Bevvy / Jar – An alcoholic beverage normally purchased from said Ale House
Bifter / Ciggy – A cigarette
Bizzy – A policeman
Bizzy Station – The building where the Policemen are based
Footy – Soccer
Scran – Something to eat
Owl fella – Elderly gentleman
Judy – Girl
Woolly back – A non-native of Liverpool, usually a person from Northern England
Butty – A sandwich
Chippy - A takeaway selling a selection of foods including chipped potatoes, usually also sell battered fish
Bladdered / Paralitic – Very drunk
Gerrim in – Please go to the bar – in said Public House – and purchase a round (a drink for each person in the group)
De kip o you – One's demeanour
Have a deck – Take a look
Do one up de dancers – Go upstairs
Don't get airyated – Exasperated
Don't get a cob on – Be rancorous
I'm made up – Very pleased
Gerra joey – Hail a taxi
Brewstered – Financially well off
Sack off – Decline
Sound – How wonderful
Early dart – Leave early
A Case – An entertaining person
De Pool – The City of Liverpool
De big ouse – The Vines Public House in Lime Street
De Phil – The Philharmonic Hall or Pub in Hope Street
Kellys's Barn – St George's Hall
Parly Street – Upper Parliament Street
Over de water – The Wirral, the stretch of land across the River Mersey
Limey – Lime Street Station and area
Paddy's Wigwam – The Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral
Dey don't do dat down der doe do dey doe? - They don't do that down there though, do they though?
