The ruin of St Luke’s church ,or the ‘bombed Out Church’ as it is known by the locals, dominates the top of Bold Street. It stands on the corner of Leece Street and Berry Street
The church was built in 1831, but was damaged during the Second World War, but now stands as a memorial to peace and a place of tranquillity
Round the corner from here is Liverpool’s China Town, and on entrance you will be welcomed by these fellas
Take a stroll across town down to the Pier Head, and you’ll find this monument to Sir Alfred Lewis Jones, one of Liverpool’s most prominent ship owners and businessmen and founder of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine
A few steps along and you’ll meet Edward VII, below
And in front of the Cunard Building, again just a few steps away, is the Cunard War Memorial
Heading back in to town again, head for Exchange Flags, which is behind the Town Hall, and you’ll find this impressive War Memorial. Erected in 1953, it is in remembrance of the members of the Liverpool exchange news room who ‘gave their lives for right and freedom’
