If you’re a fan of soccer, no visit to the city of Liverpool would be complete without visiting our famous football clubs (yes, we have two)

These are Liverpool Football Club, located in the outer suburb of Anfield, and Everton Football Club, a short drive away at Goodison

Pictured here are the Shankly Gates at Liverpool Football Club and the Hillsborough Memorial

Above the Shankly Gates appears the slogan “You’ll Never Walk Alone, which is the anthem sung by Liverpool supporters around the world

If you’re not familiar with this anthem, it goes like this:

(Rogers and Hammerstein)

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver
Song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams
Be tossed and blown.
Walk on
walk on
With hope in your hearts!
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

(You may recognise these lyrics from the movie Carousel. Judy Garland recorded it too)

Next to the Shankly Gates is the Hillsborough Memorial dedicated to the 96 men, women and children who controversially lost their lives at a fateful FA Cup semi final at Hillsborough on 15th April 1989
