Little River Band "We Two"

Australia's Little River Band could lay claim to being one of that country's most successful exports on the American charts in the late '70s and early '80s. From their Top 40 debut with "It's A Long Way There" in 1976, they group had matched that success with ten more singles by early 1983. However, coming off their biggest studio album, 1981's Time Exposure, and a gold-selling Greatest Hits collection from the following year, Little River Band lost their original lead singer, Glenn Shorrock, to a solo career.

They replaced him with popular Australian singer John Farnham for 1983's The Net set. The album's first single, "We Two," served as his introduction to American audiences when it was released in April. Like many of their previous hits, "We Two" was a smooth, harmony-laden love song and possessed a dreamy feel. In late May, it became yet another US Top 40 hit for the band.

However, be it the new lead singer or the domination of synth-pop acts during the period on radio, "We Two" spent a mere six weeks in the Top 40. In July, it peaked at #22 on the pop charts and #17 on the adult contemporary charts, signaling the beginning of the end of Little River Band's chart fortunes in the States. Unfortunate really, as "We Two" was one of the band's lovelier songs.
