This was predictable. From Massachusetts, Homosexuals are suing to stop the state's voters from deciding on gay marriage.
The lawsuit by the Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) said the state's attorney general erred when he ruled in September that Massachusetts voters could decide in a 2008 poll to redefine marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
They said the decision by Thomas Reilly, a Democrat who is likely to run for governor this year, was unconstitutional because ballot initiatives cannot reverse judicial decisions under the state's Constitution.
This makes absolutely zero sense. What the GLAAD people are saying is that you can use a Constitutional Amendment process to amend the actual Constitution of the State of Massachusetts, but hands off on those judicial rulings, they're like from the hand of God.
I'm amused by this process actually. After all, what we're told is that Gay Marriage is an issue for religious Conservatives, the big bad religious right. Yet, where does this get such a huge backing in terms of signatures that it has the liberals scared? Massachusetts. The Home state of John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, and Barney Frank. That Massachusetts is the state that in 2008 is set to overturn gay marriage, but the liberals are trying to stop it, because they're scared of those right wing religious zealots in Massachusetts.
