Lettuce-Based Smokes Can Help With Quitting

(NewsUSA) - About 438,000 people die each year from a cigarette smoking-related illness, making smoking the leading preventable cause of death in the U.S.

Among them are names and faces everyone recognizes. Peter Jennings, anchor and senior editor of ABC's "World News Tonight," died at 67 in August 2005 from lung cancer from smoking cigarettes. Baseball great Babe Ruth was 53 when he died from throat cancer in 1948 from tobacco use.

Whether someone starts smoking due to peer pressure or the illusion of glamour, kicking the habit can be difficult. There are nicotine patches and gum available, or smokers can go "cold turkey," completely giving up cigarettes, nicotine and tobacco at once.

Another smoking cessation product allows smokers to "smoke their way out of the habit," according to Dr. Puzant Torigian, creator of Bravo Smokes. Bravo Smokes are made with lettuce fibers, which are converted through a patented process to a smoking product. Smokers lose their nicotine addiction while conquering the physical aspects of smoking - the hand-to-mouth action.

"Instead of taking away the smoking habit while continuing to put nicotine into the smoker's system, we give them the smoke without the nicotine narcotic," Torigian said. "As the urge to smoke dissipates, so does the need and desire to smoke at all."

Bravo Smokes look like, are packaged like and taste similar to tobacco cigarettes but contain no tobacco or nicotine. Users smoke Bravo Smokes like an ordinary cigarette - after meals, in the morning, while relaxing and before bed - until the time comes when the individual doesn't need either one.

Bravo Smokes provide the physical and psychological satisfaction smokers are accustomed to - opening the pack, lighting up, puffing and inhaling - without the carcinogens and nicotine of a traditional cigarette.

Sold exclusively online, Bravo Smokes are available in kits designed for light or heavy smokers.

The kit for light smokers comes with eight packs of Bravo Smokes, which Torigian says is enough to help light-to-average smokers quit completely, as well as a diary with how-to-quit methods. Along with the diary, the heavy smokers' kit contains 18 packs of Bravo Smokes.
