Learn to Write Like a Professional Freelance Writer
One of the main roadblocks to a writer's career is good writing. There are two types of grammar styles. Academic writing does not help people write for the web, ghostwrite ebooks, or write web articles. This is why there are so many writers with a BA in English who are making 1/2 the money of high school grads.
There are places to learn how to write for the web.
www.dailygrammar.com is the definitive site for 'mass market' writing.
Purdue University's English Lab (OWL) is the only English lab that focuses on 'mass market' writing.
However, if you do not understand the basics of communication, it is impossible to communicate your thoughts like a professional.

The above link is to a site with 26, free, Video lectures on communication and English. I've listened to them, and they are very 'real world'.

The above link leads to 2 free courses that will help you learn the basics. Freelance writers need to learn that there is no 'one' - 'definitive' grammar style.
Mass market writing does follow the Chicago Style of Grammar. If you are not interested in buying it, then follow Dailygrammar.com. I like this site because it does follow mass market style, but it also teaches the American Linear sentence structure style. The ability to write in a 'linear' manner is vital.

I reviewed the above link. I receive 'raves' about my technical writing for 'online'. This course will teach the basics. Combine this course with a course on 'adult education' and you'll write the best manuals and 'how to' courses/ebooks your clients in your client's library.

I always say that you do not need a university degree to become a freelance writer. However, you do need good 'critical thinking' skills. This helps you select the valuable information based on its importance, not on how it impacts your emotions or current ideals. '
The following are links I use to incorporate 'adult education' and 'communication styles' into my work so people understand what I am trying to say.
