Pickwick Lake is on a waterway system that connects the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico, by way of the TENNESSEE TOMBIGBEE WATERWAY.
Consequently, from Friday through Sunday, many reallybig pleasure boats, and barges, cruise the main channel, creating huge waves for small fishing boats.
When the wind is kicking-up whitecaps, the main channel aint nowhere to be in a small boat. Because we reside here full time, we usually restrict our fishing to weekdays.
Today was a bit windy, but would have been a beautiful day to fish. The boat batteries are being recharged, even as I write, for another angling endeavor.
Weekly barge traffic doesn't create the turbulent wakes that the big pleasure cruisers create, and most of our weekend warriors, and kids, have headed back to the BIG CITY, so, PICKWICK PINES is an excellent homebase for some fun fishing.
