It is a shame at how angry the children in my son's class have become. Everyday it is something new, he hit me first, I was trying to be good but he kept bugging me, I told him to stop and I got in trouble for talking. I could go on and on. My husband and I have coached this group of kids for 3 years now in both soccer and t-ball, and have never had this problem with these kids. We try to teach good sportsmanship and appropriate behavior. It seems to be going down the drain! The animosity is incredible for this age. I believe that I have an idea on what is happening with these kids. Kickball. You heard me, Kickball! I serve as a yard duty parent once a week. There are two parents that serve each day as monitors on the playground during lunch. After the first two weeks of school, I was appalled at their behavior. They scream, fight, argue, push, and bully eachother like I have never seen them do. All while playing this game. I didn't even want to go back! And the teachers can't figure out why they are so mean and hateful when they come inside from recess. They come in like that because for the past 40 minutes, all they have done is argue. He was out, that was a foul, I want a retake! It may seem like a harmless game, but if there is no one to officiate at this age, it turns into a battleground. They are all forced to play this game, together. If they don't participate in this game, they must sit on the wall and watch. I have suggested to the teacher that either they appoint a person to solely watch this class if they must play this game, or to try a new game that is a little more simple, without so many rules and variables. Is it just me or DUH!?
