Kelly Clarkson's New(ish) Album

American Idol | Kelly Clarkson | music

I'm listening to the new Kelly Clarkson album. It doesn't suck, despite all the hoopla with firing her manager and fighting with Clive Davis. There are lots of fun rock songs and some listenable ballads (the ones that are there have a tendency toward being quirky, which I like). The album also manages to avoid the scourge of the rock album: the mid-tempo rock song. Kelly's songs are all "dance your ass off" or "sing it in the shower." Nothing falls into the category of too-fast-to-couples-dance-but-too-slow-to-dance-alone, which is good. I hate those.

It's not the perfect album, but so far there aren't any songs on it that I plan to uncheck on Itunes to relegate them to the doom that is "off the IPOD." The one I skipped over at first, titled "Yeah," has grown on me enough for me to call it a keeper.

So, "Yay, Kelly Clarkson!" I don't know how people could call this album a tanker before it was even released. I like it!

Edited to add: Man, doesn't anyone care about Kelly Clarkson any more? This post has something along the lines of the fewest reads ever. Hmpf.
