The American Dream: Dead or Just a Nightmare?

Can you impeach a President and all of his awful cabinet for gross negligence causing an unspecified but largish number of deaths?

Will we ever forget the Apocalyptic scenes down South? I think maybe we have already, or most of us anyway...

Nobody could believe it was the "good old" U.S of A. The scene, the people, the garbage and refuse, the dead bodies, the tragedy of it all. The 'supposed' most powerful and wealthy country in the world lookin' like some poor Carribean country, ravaged by Nature and too poor to save its own citizens. But these were/are Americans! American citizens! The richest fucking nation on earth! Or at least it was.

Can't believe it's the US of A but at the same time...I can. Every 'People' policy that gets cut in favor of Big Business has real-life ramifications, a Human cost. Katrina proved that and nobody can EVER say different.

America doesn't pull an immediate about-face and there is much more coming down the pipelines, more human cost for poor legislation, bad decisions, GREEDHEADISM.

Is the American Dream dead, or just a nightmare?

"It will never be the same again." We all said that after 9-11, but the politicians just used the attack for its own purposes. This one is hard to spin, to twist. You can't "us versus them" a hurricane unless it's "us versus you",
and it's more obvious than it's ever been -at least in this particular incarnation of Capitalism run amok.

It is a government's job to protect its people. Disasters happen, all the time and all over the world. It is what happens after the disaster that defines what type of society, populace and country you have and will have. This is when you step up. You mobilize. And if you don't SOMEONE ELSE WILL!

How long has the American Dream been full of shit? It's over. America's poor except for the richest of the Rich, who get richer by cleaning up their own messes and charging their own masses. And the whole world knows it. Nature revealed the American cards, and all it's got is a lousy pair of threes. It changes everything. The red, white and blue pants are down and it's not a particularily impressive view.

Mean time, China softly chuckles to herself, has her 'Peaceful Rise,'using much the same Orwellian lingo as Dubya, or Chairman Mao, for that matter.

POINT IS: the response was a failure and cost much in human life. Dubya appointed a loser with no experience in disaster -or even terrorism- management. Bad decision. Then, when he finally got his ass down there and told Brownie -who we now know is looking like he's gonna end up being the big fall guy on all this- that he's "doin' a heckuva job!"

Worst President ever and probably the stupidest figure in history. GWB. The most dangerous of losers and the most hopeless of fuck-ups.

Incompetance. Or rather, criminal negligence in the maintenance of office. Impeach him AND ANYBODY NEAR HIM! If this particular round of pirates doesn't get roundly punished by the People, what message does that send to the next round? How much do you want to swallow, Citizens? Enough till you're the one choking?

I can blame him for putting a person who's only management experience was for an Arabian horse farm in charge of of the Nation's security. For starters.

I can blame him (and them) for not taking charge -like a president is supposed to- in a time of NATIONAL PERIL!

I can blame him for not recognizing that a bunch of organizations were disorganized and fucked up.

I can blame him for saying "doin' a heckuva Brownie," when Brownie was doing a shitty job.

Who do you blame for it taking so long for the people to get help, for the woeful disorganization etc...? I'm curious, Johnny, who? ANybody? Or are government organizations that you and I pay for out of our pockets with our tax dollars just supposed to be fucked up?

I was simply pointing out that since he contributes so meaningfully to our country by being educated and paying taxes, he has every right to put down the president. Is it worse than jailing people without cause under "federal mandate?"

Worse than shutting down any and all DC area newspapers who disagree with you?

Worse than using the US military to stop a protest?

He is a bad president, few would argue. However, before we go to the world is coming to an end card, let's remember that a lot of presidents have done a lot of bone headed things. We get pissed, 4 years later get someone else in and start it over. I don't necessarily disagree with your overall post, though I think you might go a little overboard on some of it, but the things I mentioned above were acts of LIncoln and Washington....im not saying GWB is either of those guys, but I am saying presidents do terrible things under duress.

I still love the US. It has flaws, but so does Canada, Mexico, England, and any other country I get told is "better." I still believe in the principles of the country and that when we don't like what is going on we luckily get a chance to change it.

Someone said leave then others went on about money or means to leave, etc. I say stay, go, complain, embrace, but you only get to complain if you are voting. So if you are, bless you and your little blog. If not, then remember that if you are not part of the solution...
