I was driving down the street the other day in Northern California and saw a sign that said "Slow Children."
Now, is it me or is that just mean? I mean, so what if the kids are slow, they can't help it. The city certainly has no right to be so obtuse about it. Really. I also don't think it's right to post the information out in public like that. I mean, everyone has their faults...their "achilles heel" so to speak. I think if I had a child and he/she was slow, I certainly wouldn't want the city posting a placard about it to everyone in town. The insensitivity!
That ticks me off almost as much as the "Deaf Child Area" signs. Again, is it just me, or is the street a strange spot to put deaf children? I mean, what if they got hit or something? Especially since they are deaf they may not hear oncoming traffic or the car horns of crazed drivers. I think they should make the "Deaf Child Area" some place safer...like a park or better yet in a building somewhere. Whose idea was this anyway? What sickos got together and decided to cogregate a group of hearing-challenged kids on a street corner?
The madness has got to stop!
We all have to stand together and write to our congressmen to have these signs removed immediately! I think for the health and well-being of all involved we have to show a bit more sensitivity and compassion.
Otherwise, God help us all.
