Just Desserts!!!

There is something quite wonderful about puddings, desserts, sweets, afters call them what you will. Even the simplest dessert feels special in a way that no main course ever does.

Is it because desserts take us back to childhood? Rice pudding always makes me think of my grandmother because she always made it for us when we were small. Fruit pies and crumbles make me think of my mum, when we were young we lived in the country in a house with a huge garden filled with fruit trees and my mum made pies, crumbles and jam from the fruit.

So my question to you is:
what is your favourite dessert (pudding) and why?

Ooooooo, Hats, this is so bad of you!

I was doing so good at staying away from sweets today and now you bring desserts up. My stomach is rumbling and my mouth is watering remembering the bread pudding that my grandmother used to make in the winter. It was so warm and comforting when we'd come in wet and cold from playing outside. And my mother's cherry pies - I can almost taste that. Just the right combination of sweet and tart.

Shoot! Now I'm going to have to go home and fight the urge to make a cherry pie. I bet I lose that fight, too. This post brought up too many sweet memories - of food and of people.

Pussy willow, bread pudding sounds yummy to me

and of course cherry pie. Puddings/desserts always do bring memories and people.

I am sorry my post weakened your resolve lol!

The ultimate dessert is

Sassys
a good old fashioned Spanish Flan! I am going to get one tonight...too good to resist! I try to only get one a week...but I feel that I deserve one today because I have to put up with all kinds of furry things! Ask PW she knows what I mean!

Sassy what is a spanish flan? I have never heard of that?

I know the Spanish call Creme Caramel a flan, is that what you mean?

A Spanish Flan Hatsrus is

Sassys
An egg concoction it's hard to describe, it has caramel melted at the bottom and you flip it over prior to serving it, it's sort of a somewhat firm pudding. It is lighter then pudding and very smooth texture. I will get the recipe from work for you if you like.

Hats, is a sort of egg custard.

Absolutely to die for.

I think it is what I know as creme caramel Sassy

judging by the description.

Yeah, and I'm here,...

craving my chocolate and not having an outlet to get any; sniff!

Poor catfish, when the urge for choc arrives nothing else

will do. I'm sorry for inducing the urge.

Too late, Hatsrus,...

I had a chocolate milkshake today; I hope you're happy with yourself. :-)

I'm suitably chastened catfish and have pulled my hat

down over my face in shame.

As you should be,...

though, I will admit, the milkshake WAS wonderful. Another one would be even better!

at least you had your calcium and vitamins in the milk.

Now I want chocolate too!!!!

Catfish's picture

And I want more,...

because, once someone has had that first blast of wonderful chocolate, it just never seems to be enough.

Catfish, I found that to have a little choc, when I first want

it, is better than denying myself for ages and then eating a whole bar because the urge for choc has become an over-whelming need. 1 little square allowed to melt in the mouth seems to satisfy the want.

You're a better man than me, Hats...

because one little piece only makes me crave lots more. I have certain numbers and amounts, kind of low, that might do it for me, but each time is so much different.

If I have a little piece of chocolate when I very first fancy

it, so that the fancy doesn't grow into first a want, then a need, then a must have. If, however, I deny the fancy then a little piece is just not enough.

I had someone else tell me that,...

about themselves, and so I tried it. What I found was that it just made me crave either more of that, or want to go for something more inexpensive. There just is no cure for Reese's peanut butter cups, after all.

I really love pecan pie I don't eat it very often because

you can smell the calories in it, and put on pounds just from the aroma.
