Jobless in Seattle
So what’s so great about America?
Oh sure, if you make over $5000/month and willing to live in a 3/2 tract house somewhere and don’t go out much, it’s a reasonably good life. That’s good with a small g because if anything serious happens to you and your family, you’re in real trouble with a capital T.
What you might ask. Try losing that $60 K job after you’re 50 years old, and every 30-40- year old passes on hiring you. Try a member of the family needing a major surgery and your insurance claiming that it is either optional surgery or worse yet experimental surgery. Try having a flood where it usually doesn’t flood. The list can go forever because it takes so much money to live here in the good old USA.
If I any advice as I sit unemployed in a house I can’t afford, eating only twice a day to save money, is to live in squalor for all your life to help ensure retiring in the lifestyle you’re accustomed to.

Aging in America is almost a Crime
It is understandable that you are feeling depressed. But there are jobs out there. try state jobs. They don't pay all that well but usually they are secure. Start a business. Maybe there is something you are good at or skills you learned on your last job. You may have to take a job with less pay, but it is easier to get a job if you already have one. GOOD LUCK....Hang in there because something WILL come through.
