Jeet Kune Do. The way of the interception. It is a system or principle where one intercept an opponent's attack by striking first. Take for example, when your opponent wants to give you a punch, you give him/her a kick first maybe at the leg.
Usually, when your opponent attack you, one's reaction would be to block or to dodge, follow up with an counter-attack. Or if you are fast enough counter attack straight. Applying Jeet Kune Do would means you got to be real fast, real accurate and strike your opponent before the attack could reach you. This requires much confidence and sharpness to do so especially in Taekwondo where the opponents could fake you to initial your attack by one's movements and footwork that could be rather fast and deceptive.
To really apply this principle, it seems that only one could do it with the confidence and sharpness and that would be the late founder Bruce Lee. That's why he's good. Imagine your opponent can managed to strike you first before you could attack. It might make you lose confidence and when that happens, you might eventually lose your game.
Anyway, this is only a principle or system. Most importantly, one should play the style he/she most preferred. In that way, you would be confident to execute your technique. How can one apply the way of the interception if you do not have the kind of speed, sharpness and confidence? Not everyone can be Bruce Lee right? And you might just prefer to play your style.
