Japanese Suicides With Detergent Mixture?

detergent suicide | Japan | Suicide | suicide gas

There seems to be a disturbing trend in Japan these days. I've always known the pressure in Japan to perform was tough, and, oddly enough, suicide isn't as easy to do as it seems, even with the numbers of people who do it.

Now they seem to have found an easy way to do it. They're calling it "detergent suicide", and so far, over 60 people have committed suicide in the last month by using the mixture. They all found it on an internet site, which the police in Japan have asked the internet provider to shut down.

The latest suicides involve 3 men with a suicide pact, sitting in a parked car in Tokyo. It seems that the smell can be so strong that anyone else in the vicinity can also get sick. In early May, police evacuated about 350 people from their homes on the island of Hokkaido after a neighbor mixed detergent and chemicals to kill himself.

I don't really understand why young people always feel that things can't get any better for them, so much so that they keep trying to commit suicide, no matter the country, but I hope one day they realize that there's so many more reasons to live.

It is so messed up when young people get to a point where they are that desperate...My ex husbands friend, whom he worked with for years, was found two days ago spattered all over a sidewalk after he jumped out of a high rise apartment...this guy was also very young. It's so sad. *Sigh*

You're right, Sassys,...

it's sad and scary, and it's too bad that they won't listen to us, those of us who have been there. I remember how tense things felt at that age, but I never really considered taking my life, ever.
