a very privileged minority - one that doesn't have to worry about paying the bills and finishing school so that she can have a better life. These things will be so much easier for her because she has the money that most 14, 15, 16 year olds don't have. She'll be able to afford to hire a nanny so she can finish school. She already has access to tutors on the set when she shoots her TV show so she doesn't need to worry about the ridicule other girls her age would suffer from their classmates.

She has received support from many areas - support I find ill advised and damaging - that other girls her age will now expect but not receive. Won't that be a nice surprise for all the little nobodies who find themselves pregnant after following her example?

Another thing her nanny will be able to help her do is raise her child. In the 21st Century US, the typical 16 year old girl simply does not have the maturity and skills to successfully raise a child. Most of them can barely manage to do their homework without constant nagging. The average 16 year old, saddled with a child, will be scrambling to potty train and teach the child to walk and talk much less instill decent moral and ethical values.

But, oh yes, let's praise little Jamie Lynn for deciding to keep her illegimate child. Heaven forbid that anyone point out how stupid it was of her to get pregnant in the first place. If the kid is too dumb to even master using birth control, how in the world is she ever going to raise a child?

Heaven forbid that anyone point out how sad it is that her teenaged years - years that should have been used to grow and learn and have some fun - have been cut short because she is now responsible for another life. Oh, but what am I thinking? She is, after all, one of the privileged few. She'll be able to keep on partying and carrying on, no matter how many brats she pops out - just like her sister.
