The "Golden Gated City" once was a spontaneous site where Rock Bands of legend were formed in the many large Victorian houses that once made-up the "Fillmore District." Songwriters, singers and guitar pickers came from all over America to play in the "free concerts" in Golden Gate Park, met one another and formed bands like the "Jefferson Airplane" and the "Grateful Dead" that attracted even more musicians and singers to the "Bay Area."
That luminous center of creativity has now moved-on to other areas like Austin and Nashville but there are still creative people arising from the hundreds of bands playing in the Bay Area's clubs every weekend.
