Jackson Browne "Lawyers In Love"

Born in Heidelberg, West Germany, Jackson Browne moved with his family to Los Angeles as a child and was already playing in folk clubs as a teen. He would briefly become a member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, have his songs recorded by folk legends like Tom Rush and rock acts including The Byrds and Linda Ronstandt.
However, by 1972, Browne had become a star in his own right as his song "Doctor My Eyes" reached the Top Ten. Throughout the '70s, Browne was an immense star, known for his sensitive singer/songwriter appeal with his lyrical penchant for personal themes, and an increasing role as a social commentator and activist. The '80s saw him have his biggest album, yet, as 1980's Hold Out topped the charts and his single from the movie Fast Times At Ridgemont High, "Somebody's Baby," became another Top Ten hit in 1982.
So, it was hardly surprising when his album Lawyers In Love arrived in 1983, three years after his last release, that it had an audience eagerly awaiting it. Leading the way was the album's title track - a catchy song that blended organ and guitar riffs with a singalong chorus. Lyrically, "Lawyers In Love" was an amusing, if somewhat cynical, look at the materialism and political landscape of the early '80s.
The album wasted little time in reaching the Top Ten and "Lawyers In Love" became another US Top 40 hit for Browne in July. The song would also make the adult contemporary and album rock charts, reaching the Top Ten on the latter. On the pop charts, "Lawyers In Love" remained in the Top 40 for three months, peaking at #13 during late September.
