J.K. Rowling and Charity

Thousands of people regularly contribute money, time and other material efforts to charity causes. However, it seems that those who usually get recognized are the celebrities and otherwise ridiculously rich. Am I bitter? Not at all. If a celebrity can call attention to an otherwise unnoticed cause, then sure, give them credit. According to a recent news report, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is among the ranks of those contributing to important causes.
While Rowling will not disclose the quantity of her donation, she has given a, according to rumors, very large sum of money to a project aiming to set up a multiple sclerosis research center in Scotland. This is a cause Rowling is quite passionate about since her mother died in 1990 of MS at the age of 45. She feels that if her mother had the proper treatment, she would have lived longer and without so much pain. While the author is quiet about the quantities of cash she donates to this charity, it is rumored to be over 1 million pounds over the years.
Good for her! If more were so generous, I'd almost feel they deserve the attention they get.

JK Rowling
I feel she deserves the positive attention. Even though I am not a huge Harry Potter fan, I admire the author.
