It's the season

It the the season again. Malaysia celebrates a number of festivals every year. As this is a country with different culture and races, there are a number of recognised national festivities celebrated openly all over the country.

I am so blessed to be able to a citizen in this country. Proud that no matter what happens in the neighbouring countries, Malaysians are still united and loyal to the country and its leaders.

Many Malaysians are, in fact deeply influence by the western lifestyle. However, the deep culture roots in each and every one of us, makes us deeply feel that we are still Malaysians. We can copy and even practice other lifestyles, but we still instil our children with all the oriental values.

This month, Malaysians are going to celebrate 'Deepavali' for the Hindus and 'Hari Raya Puasa' for the Muslims. There will be open houses everywhere. The public is also invited to the open houses by top leaders of the country. It is not so much about the food that attracts tourists but, can anyone tell me which country has leaders that have open houses every year?

True, Malaysia is not as wealthy as other nations. However, our wealth comes from our unity, loyalty, and love for our country and everything in it. We are wealthy because this is our home, even if we are not welcome elsewhere!

We don't have to show our patrioticsm only on National Day, we can show them on festive seasons like this too!
