It's 100 frickin' degrees!
I know what you're thinking: it's summer time. The sun is out and baking the land to a golden bronze. So why is this lame-o bitching about it getting hot? Because I live in the pacific northwest where heat waves top out at 85 for a day or two before droping back into the 70's followed by bursts of rain. That's how we do summers around here. Until now.
My family and I went to town for a few groceries and hit the first major chunk of asphault about ten miles from home. The local bank thermometer read 99 degrees. I thought it was screwed up but my van's own thermometer confirmed it. Three miles south and we hit Marysville, a small city about thirty miles north of Seattle. The fricking temperature hit 101! After stepping out of the van I was hit by a wall of heat that stole my breath. We spent a good two hours shopping for three bags of groceries, just to take advantage of the store's A/C. It helped but only for the moment.
I know that the rest of the country is hitting record temps but this is way out of our league. Give me gray skies and rain anyday: I promise not to bitch.

it's tooooo HOT!
You know, Spikey, you're absolutly right. We wait all winter (Brrr!) for those hot, hot summer days, and, whe they get here, OOOhh, it's too Hot!
We're such babies! Out here
We're such babies! Out here it's rain, rain, rain. Everytime it comes down we all run for cover. So here I was at work yesterday walking face first into a garden sprinkler while people pointed, laughed, and then followed me through. What a day!

Where's here, Sire? I know
Where's here, Sire? I know it gets hotter all over the globe, that's why I was whining. I'm from the green and serene. This is the NW, Seattle, espresso stands every five feet, and lots of rain! Where's the damned rain? I lived in Florida as a kid and never quite connected to the climate. I'm an eigth Cherokee on my mom's side and you'd never know it from my pale skin. I hope everyone else is surviving this heat wave with as minimal discomfort as I. Keep it cool.
I'm in Australia and its too
I'm in Australia and its too freekin cool at the moment, at least it is when I go to work, its about 40 (and me in shorts, they think I'm crazy) but its hitting about 62 which isn't too bad. Wish I could send some down to you. I hope it cools down soon.

Lets trade!
You're sitting in my kind of weather! Maybe we should trade for a day just to feel human again.
Australia - Just as bad
I have to agree with Sire, I got a few relatives in Perth that are having a terrible time now, the last 2 days have seen nearly 40 degrees celcius and it isn't even the peak of winter yet.
