Is this Coincidence? Or do the Dots Connect? Part 4
Wednesday, April 5, 2006- The brainscan results were normal, and I will see the thoracic surgeon about 9:30 AM Friday. My headaches have kept me in a great deal of pain. They are not always continuous, but come in waves or stabbing type pain. I have never in the past had many headaches, but this sure makes up for it. The medicines I am taking such as hydrocodone, make the pain more bearable, but it doesn't go away. He also has me on Elevil, and is increasing the dosage in low increments, and I am still taking the gabapentin. He is hooking me up with a Neurologist, but we will have to wait and schedule around the surgical procedure, which I hope takes place next week. As always with cancer, the sooner it is eradicated the better the odds of beating it. I feel confident that this episode will not be the cause of my demise, but is has delayed my meeting with ET. First things first.
Tuesday, April 4, 2006- The brainscan took only a few minutes. Small brain. We will get the results tomorrow.
Monday, April 3, 2006- Today I had an office visit with Dr. Noyes, my Primary Healthcare Physician, and even though we suspect that shingles is causing my severe headaches, we agreed that it would be prudent to have a brainscan before going through an operation. The CT was scheduiled for the 6th, but we later rescheduled it for tomorrow, so we will have the results before my visit with my thoracic surgeon on the 7th. At my age, healthcare seems to occupy most of my time. I am convinced that the lung resection, if cancer is detected in the nodule, is the best course of action for me to take, but I dread the recovery process. I have a low pain threshold, and do not have much patience with the rehabilitation procedures. Talk about occupying most of my time, it will probably occupy all of my time for several months. But it will also provide the best odds for a complete cure, which most people don't have with this type of cancer. The Xrays taken at the emergency room when I was going through so much pain with the shingles probably saved my life.
Sunday, April 2, 2006- No post.
Saturday, April 1, 2006- UCLA and Florida in the finals. Not an April fools joke.
Friday, March 31, 2006- Today we rest. Tomorrow is the first day of April, and the dogwoods are starting to bloom. Spring is here. Unless something significant comes to mind, I probably wont post again until after we talk with Dr. Talton. An operation of some kind is imminent, but the results of the cardiovascular tests will determine the type of operation. We have researched the option of radio-frequency ablation of the tumor, and this is a viable option, performed by the Mayo Clinic, probably in Jacksonville, Florida.
Thursday, March 30, 2006- We went to Tupelo and accomplished the stress test, but will probably not know the results until Friday, April 7, when we meet with the thoracic surgeon, Dr. Talton.
Wednesday, March 29, 2006- No post today.
