Well here's another pre-bedtime dud I've decided to lob your way, for fuck's sake, you know? Have you ever thought of the saying, that the "pen is mightier than the sword."? In it's metaphorical context, for those of you who are uninitiated, it basically means that written word (e.g. intelligence) is always more effective in solving disputes than is brute force. In actuality, though, at the crux of it, just by ellicitng a saying such as this, we are, in a way, giving more implicit power to the sword. It's like we HAVE to come up with some supposedly clever metaphor in order to see the wisdom of intellect over brute force, but only because we know, in the end, that when you die (of a cause other than natural) it was some manner of brute force that inspires it. It is in actuality brute force that has the final say, is it not? Take the case of "the pen is mightier than the sword" as applied to a particular political matter: the person with the pen writes off on the order to the executioner to carry out the execution of the one who resorted to the sword. I don't know...just my bizarre twist on things. I'm sure this arguemnt can be debated ad nauseum, so if you have anything relavent to add, give it to me baby.
