Is it ok to exercise even if you have your monthly period?

Health

Actually yes, I do think it is ok. Research shows that exercising and working out, are one of the ways to help reduce cramps and pain associated with your menstrual cycle. Very often though, a lighter work out would probably be best as being tired is of course one of the things associated with your menstrual cycle.

I am a Yoga fan. And, during menstruation Yoga instructors advise specific, restorative exercises. For me personally, I find that light exercise: stretching, walking, and restorative yoga poses actually helps a great deal at that time of the month. Though, I effort myself not too engage in hard core exercise at that time. Primarily because the menstrual process is already pretty fatiguing, and because my lower back is already strained from the additional pressure that menstruation places on the lumbar region, being 'nice' to our spine is always a good idea. So, I focus more on gentle, invigorating exercise.
