Is Haggling the Best Way?

A few weeks ago my friend was in the market for renters insurance. She had just moved to Florida and was worried about the oncoming hurricane season. She called up a company for a quote, was given great service, but the price was a little high.

My friend has always worked in sales so she new she could get a better price. So she told the sales lady that she would call her back if she couldn't find something a little less expensive. This was on a Friday afternoon.

That Sunday a horrible storm came and lightening struck her apartment complex, or the unit next door. Her unit was completely destroyed and she lost everything. Obviously since she didn't have renters insurance she will have to build her life again.

Hopefully it won't take as long as the last time, but still. All her memories were gone. If she would have gotten the insurance on Friday she would have received a check for 35,000 and probably been off a little better than before. So the question posed; Is Haggling the best way?
